On Friday March 13, 2020 the Session of First Presbyterian Church of South Saint Paul approved a motion to close the church building as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. A work group spent two months studying the MN “Stay Safe” requirements for places of worship and developed a Preparedness Plan per these guidelines.

The work group developed criteria for when the church building can reopen. This criterion is as follows:

  • A positivity rate for the COVID-19 virus of not more than 2% for a minimum of 14 consecutive days in both Dakota and Washington Counties.
  • The not more than 2% positivity rate for the COVID-19 virus must be maintained to remain open with excursions up to 2.5% for up to 3 days permitted.
  • Appropriate staff is available.

Once the criteria are met, an additional Session review and approval will be required to officially reopen the church building for church-sponsored events.
